Frequently Asked Questions

Diagnostics & Repairs

Auto electricians are qualified to look after vehicles electrical and air conditioning systems.

So if its related to components of your vehicle computer system (such as warning lights, battery, headlights and signal lights, electric brake systems, wiring, dual batteries, etc) instead of general servicing or repairs of motor parts, we're the team to call.

The main electrical components that can cause problems are:

  • Batteries
  • Wiring/Wiring Loom
  • Relays/Fuses
  • ECU
  • Alternator
  • Starter Motor
  • Cooling Fan
  • Lights
  • Control Modules

If your battery charge light comes on while driving you are possibly looking at an alternator problem. If your vehicle is having trouble turning over, your starter motor could be the problem.

Yes, our scan tools are the latest in diagnostic equipment and have the most current software to communicate with your vehicle, no matter the make or model.

A diagnostic scan tool tells us the diagnostic trouble codes your vehicle automatically records when it detects a problem. These codes tell us which areas in the vehicle the problems are located. However, it does not tell us the exact issue which is causing the problem.

Once we have the area of the problem narrowed down, we still need to investigate in that area for the exact problem.

Air Conditioning

You should regularly service your vehicle air conditioning system to ensure the system has not developed a leak, the compressor is in good working order and the filter is not clogged.

Air conditioning systems contain many parts and needs regular care and attention by licenced technicians to keep it running cool on those hot days!

We recommend having your vehicle air conditioning system serviced every 2 years. This is the best way to prevent an expensive breakdown.

Most vehicles will leak some gas over time which means your air conditioning system won't get as cold as it use to and may also stop working.

You should get your vehicle air conditioning system checked by a licenced technician if you notice:

  • It's not getting as cold as it use to
  • Unfamiliar noises when it is running
  • Unpleasant or unsual smells coming out of the vents
  • A reduction in airflow

Yes, we can! Whether it is due to low gas levels, electrical, faulty components or a blockage, our licenced technicians will test and accurately diagnose the fault.

We will have your air conditioning system back in action in no time.

Accessory Installations

Yes, we can install the accessories you have purchased. However we may decline to fit supplied parts we deem unsuitable or of poor quality.

Yes, we can definetly supply all your accessory needs.

We have a wide range of suppliers with trusted brand and quality products.

We have more then happy to consult with you to find the right accessories for your vehicle.

Dual Battery Systems

A dual battery system is a vehicle battery system that uses a secondary battery system that uses a secondary battery in addition to the vehicle's starting battery.

The secondary battery is used as a power source to auxiliary gear and accessories.

You will use your dual battery system to power up a wide range of 12 volt and 24volt accessories like a portable fridge, air compressor, lights, power inverter etc.

It can also be used to charge devices like mobile phones, tablets and Ipads.

This depends on the make and model of your vehicle.

Most common places are:

  • Under bonnet
  • Behind seat
  • In portable battery boxes
  • Custom canopy fitouts.

You can but, you run a high risk of running your starting battery flat.

Starting batteries are designed to provide a short burst of power to start a vehicle, not to release a small amount of power over a long period of time.

Even if you do not flatten your starting battery, powering devices from your starting battery will shorten the batteries lifespan.

Off-Gird Caravan Systems

There are several benefits of powering your caravan or camper appliances with solar:

  • Solar panels create free energy
  • They are environmentally friendly
  • The provide the ability to travel off-grid for extended periods of time

A solar panel is a connected assembly of solar cells capable of producing a voltage when exposed to the sun.

Sunlight on the solar panel produces direct current electricity which is used to charge batteries.

Each off-grid solar system is uniquely created to your requirements.

Our team will assess your requirements, lifestyle and space available keeping in mind your budget to create you the perfect size system.

Batteries

Simply going for a drive will not provide enough charge to recharge a flat battery. It can often take up to 24 hours for a battery to complete a charge cycle. Vehicle charging systems are designed to provide a 'surface charge' which is sufficient to maintain a healthy battery, but not enough to bring a flat battery back from the dead.

The only way to recharge a flat battery is to use a proper multi-stage battery charger.

Almost all batteries have a natural tendency to go flat over time, especially when they are not in use.

Lead acid batteries lose charge over time and this problem is often made worse by the parasitic drain of electrical devices within the vehicle which continue to operate even whilst the vehicle is parked.

Lead acid batteries on average only last 3 years. However, this figure may be reduced depending on a number of factors which include:

  • Whether the battery has been correctly installed
  • Whether the battery has been correctly chosen for the vehicle
  • The climate in which the vehicle is driven in
  • The voltage at which the battery has been kept at
  • Whether the vehicle has a high or low parasitic drain when not in use
  • How often the vehicle is used, and length of journeys
  • Alternator performance

Lithium and Lithium Hybrid Starter Batteries

The benefits of a lithium battery are:

  • Light Weight
  • Space Saving
  • Faster Charging
  • Longer Lifespan
  • Greater Warranty
  • Extremely Low Self-Discharge Rate

The Invicta Hybrid Starter Series offers a dual purpose lithium starting solution for those who require a high CCA starting power but also deep cycle performance that keeps the energy flowing.

This is the same as a dual battery system, however it all runs off your starting battery, essentially eliminating the need for a secondary battery. With built in jump start technology, you can rest assured that you won't be left stranded.

This solution is perfect for vehicles with no practical space for a second battery to be fitted. The Ford Everest is one example of a vehicle that is perfectly suited for an Invicta Hybrid.

The benefits of a Invicta Lithium Hybrid Starter battery are:

  • 3 Year Full Replacement Warranty
  • Bluetooth Monitoring
  • Drop-in Starter Battery Replacement
  • Light Weight LiFePO4 Chemistry
  • Engineered BMS
  • Jump Start Feature
  • Pouch Cell Design
  • High CCA Capabilities
  • Charge Directly from Alternator
  • Standard Automotive Case Size
  • IP56 Rated
  • IEC Certified
